It’s not the length of time we spend in school that matter; it’s the quality of education that does
This post is all about the “K plus 12” or Kindergarten plus 12 years that is part of Pres. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III’s Educational Reform Program. Pres. Aquino claims that (1) it can help solve the problem of competency of Filipinos (2) make high school graduates employable and (3) enable students to have more time to choose which career best suits their abilities.
However, there are concerns worth looking into before considering such a proposal. P-Noy administration should (1) provide funds for building schools, facilities and rooms for learning, supply non-erroneous books (2) increase the salary of teachers and (3) provide educational services for students learning.
“If the administration had not yet taken any moves on improving the current 10 year basic education, what more for a 12-year education scheme”
We need more schools, not more years in school
“It will not address its declining quality and growing number of out-of-school youth or lifts the employment rate; instead, it will translate to additional burden to parents and students especially those in the indigent sectors”- kabataan partylist Rep. Raymond Palatino
At this point, What Filipinos deserve is quality education, not another two rotten years of mediocre learning
